Ladies 1s - 23/24 Season Review

Ladies 1st XI – CAPTAIN – CHARLOTTE MINCHER

Record after 21 games: W5 D4 L12– F 29 A 47 Points 19 Position: 9th

What a weird old season! Off the back of a very productive summer league, the L1s came into the season with high levels of optimism (and fitness levels thanks to Alex’s summer regime).

This season has seen some real highs with our performances against top 4 teams such as Worcester and Old Sils which saw us win 3-1.

Not forgetting our brilliant 7-2 win against Bridgnorth. We have put in some truly brilliant team performances showing great skill, determination, strength and grit. But also we’ve had some really difficult times both on and off the pitch, dropping points in games we shouldn’t have, letting in late goals and players literally bleeding for the team (usually Emma).

As I’m writing this, I don’t know how our season will end, with us needing nothing less than a win against local rivals Cannock and needing Sutton to lose to Tamworth to stay up.

We could turn up to the end of season dinner having pulled off the great escape, however we could turn up having being relegated. Either way, the ladies 1s will welcome any drinks turning up at their table!!

Despite the ups and downs, I don’t think I’ve ever been prouder to be part of this team. The commitment the girls have shown to training, their fitness, coaching, running junior teams and to each other is inspiring. Throughout the losses, the disappointing performances and the personal struggles people have had, the girls have given their all and the support for each other hasn’t wavered.

So (in no particular order) Zoey, Janey, Dolly, Sophie, Emily, Leanne, Vicky, Katie, Hannah, Nelly, Emma, Jess, Nat and Kiera thank you so much for everything you do for this team and this club. Enjoy the break!

A massive thank you also has to go to Alex for all the effort, time and commitment he has given to training and our games this year.
