🚨 SUPER SUNDAY 🚨

Bloxwich U8's travelled to Lichfield on a very wet Mother's Day for their first In2 tournament. With 16 teams involved, it was going to make for an exciting morning of hockey. Bloxwich were in group A, along with Lichfield 2, North Staffs 3 and Leek 1.

First game against Lichfield 2, we looked strong and dominated throughout, making some lovely passes and scoring 6 fabulous goals! Freddie 4, James R 2

Game 2 against North Staffs 3 was very well matched, lots of great skills on show from both sides. Unfortunately we didn't manage to put any away this time, but we also defended the goal well and stopped them from scoring. Final score 0-0.

Game 3 was against Leek 1. They were a very strong side and had 1 player who showed lots of flair and skill independently of his team mates. Despite battling hard for the full 10 mins, we lost 3-0.

End of group stages and we came 2nd in the group, which meant we were still in with a chance of the top prize. We were to play winners of group B.

Game 4 was against winning side Beacon. Straight away Bloxwich displayed their desire to control the game and worked well as a team to come out on top. Final score 4-0. Freddie 2, James R 1, Elliott 1

The semi final pitched us against our nemesis from the group stages, Leek 1. After a quick team talk at the start of the game, the boys showed their resilience and scored in the first few minutes. The strongest player on their team was not happy at being tackled and dominated and made a foul against Bloxwich. Undeterred by this, Bloxwich kept their heads up and used it to their advantage, scoring another lovely goal. At this point, the opposition player saw red and threw his stick across the pitch, hitting one of his team mates. Luckily they saw it coming and it didn't do too much damage. Whilst sin binned for a few minutes, Bloxwich capitalised and scored yet another goal! Final score 3-0. Freddie 1, Elliott 1, James R 1. Very proud at the end of this game!

The final saw us against Stone, who had not lost a game all tournament. Buoyed by their previous win, the boys were on top form and determined to finish the tournament with a bang, and they did just that. Again showing great team work, they ended the tournament with a 4-0 win. James R 1, Freddie 2, Elliott 1. This put them on top out of 16 teams! What an excellent achievement and they should be really proud of themselves! 🏆🏆🏆

Special thanks to all the parents for their support and encouragement, and to Hannah for score keeping. Go Blox Go!!! ⚫️🔴🏑 #emergincluboftheyear #joinus #nextgeneration #GrowOurSport #getinvolved #teamblox #Community
