Ladies 2s - 23/24 Season Review

Ladies 2nd XI – CAPTAIN – HAYLEY SCOTT

Record after 21 games: W2 D0 L19 – F 11 A 63 Points 6 Position: 12th

From agreeing to only standing for 1 season, I somehow find myself writing a second yearly review and what a very different season review this is too.

We started our season on a low losing Alex on Saturdays, but we wished him well as he quite rightly became club coach. To add to this major setback, we also lost some experienced players and the league decided to reshuffle, seeing some of the opposition our 1s have playing, join our league. Not the start we wanted really. However, we knew we had to soldier on. As I'm making team plans for the season, Abbie decided to fall down the stairs and rule herself out for the first half of the season, Jo decided to start the season all guns blazing and then injured herself which also saw her ruled out until after Christmas. Kate Smith slipped a disc in her back which saw her availability become sparse. Then we lost Kiera to the first team which was also a big loss, but great for Kiera. We must have played with 20 different players through out the season and so with this it didn't really help us steady the ship.

We did however sign a young new player who has really settled into our team and she feels like one of our own. Ellie keep working hard and keep believing and I'm sure we won't be keeping you for long. Young Frankie also came up to us at the start of the season and again another one I probably won't be able to keep hold of for very long. Daisy came up just after Christmas and has developed each week. I'm looking forward to seeing what next season will bring for her.

The 2s will end their season holding the rest of the league up. Not something I'm proud of as captain, but it happens and despite this we need to concentrate on the positives and build for next season.

Special thanks also goes to Jo Langley, Katie Kitson and Susie Morris for their support. Eva for collecting the fines, Ellie for doing the teas and the girls for helping her in the kitchen. I'd also like to thank our supporters who cheer us on from the side lines, every one who has umpired for us especially Tank and Dave who I think have done the majority of our games. Mincher stepped in and took a lot of pressure off me, helping me with subs etc, thank you, we appreciate all your time and effort you have given us. My last but biggest thank you goes to all of my team, the support and efforts each week has been amazing.
